Production Responses & Festival Consideration
- Prior to the opening of your production your circuit coordinator will notify you of the respondent/s who have been scheduled to view your production. If your production is a Participating Entry a member of the Regional Selection Team will also be dispatched to see the show. However, only the first respondent will offer an oral response.
- When the production respondent arrives, he/she should be provided with a program, one of which has been marked with the director's Irene Ryan nominee, and an indication of any actors who are not eligible for an Irene Ryan nomination.
- The respondent will provide an oral response to the production immediately following the performance.
- The production respondent may nominate one (Associate entries) or two (Participating entries) additional student actors for the Irene Ryan Acting Competition. The respondent may also nominate company members for Meritorious Achievement Awards. The respondent may solicit Meritorious Award input from the director. These award are intended to recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond the normal expectation of production participation.
- The respondent will submit an online report on the Ryan nominees and Meritorious Achievement Awards. The respondent may also recommend a specific scene from the production for the Festival of Invitational Scenes. If your show is being considered for the Festival of Invitational Scenes, the invitational scenes coordinator will notify you and verify your interest in being considered. The scenes which are invited to the festival will be selected at the December selection meeting.
- If your production is a participating entry, the respondent and Regional Selecton Team representative will provide a report evaluating the production. Because we want to give everyone an opportunity all productions are held for consideration. The production will then be discussed at the December selection meeting and input from all respondents and team members who viewed the production will be solicited and reviewed.
If for some reason during the academic year, you need to determine the likelyhood of an invitation to festival feel free to contact the regional chair.
- The productions to be invited to the regional festival will be selected at the December selection meeting. If a production is invited to the regional festival, the production's designated contact person will be notified immediately after the selection meeting.
- Irene Ryan Acting Nominees as well as Meritorious Achievement Awards Recipients will be posted on the regional webpage as soon as the response reports have been processed.
Design Responses
Region VIII is the only region in the country which attempts to send design repondents to each of the entered shows with student designers. Cost and logistics are making this practice more and more difficult. Whenever we are able to arrange for a respondent specific to student design we will do so. However, all student designers will be invited to Regional Festival and opportunities for a response to their work will take place there. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Regional Chair of Design & Technology, Geoffrey M. Eroe, at geoffrey.eroe@pcmail.maricopa.edu.
- Prior to the opening of your production, your circuit design coordinator will notify you of the design respondent who has been scheduled to view the production.
- After the production, the design respondent will critique the design and review all sketches, renderings, models, etc. which should be included in the design presentation at the regional festival. These response sessions are usually private, including just the respondent and the student designer(s).
The Board of Governors of KCACTF - Region VIII will make every effort to ensure that our respondents function as allies to your program and educators to your students. We will further strive to give each and every production entered equal and thorough consideration. We can best fulfill this pledge if we receive all registration information one month prior to the opening of the production. |
